The Baseus Inspire XH1 supports LDAC and multipoint at the same time. The Soundcore Space Q45, Space One, Space One Pro, Sony WH-1000XM4 and ULT WEAR make you choose. Two separate ticks on a spec sheet don’t settle it.

I’d choose two-device switching over LDAC for a workday split between a phone and laptop. If you want both, the XH1 deserves a look. If your only source is an iPhone, LDAC adds no value.

LDAC and multipoint headphones compared

LDAC is a Bluetooth audio codec: the format your phone uses to send music. Multipoint keeps the headphones connected to two devices. The question is whether the headphones keep LDAC available while that second connection stays open.

These answers apply to the exact models named. Space One, Space One Pro and Space 2 are different headphones. The WH-1000XM4 row covers the original XM4, not the XM4C or newer Sony flagships.

The XH1’s simultaneous use has hands-on evidence. Baseus lists LDAC and multipoint separately in its specs, which alone would not prove they work together. DHRME demonstrated a Samsung phone using LDAC while an iPhone stayed connected. That is stronger evidence, though Baseus sponsored the test.

Which pair I’d buy for a phone and laptop

For an Android phone and laptop, I’d consider the XH1 if keeping LDAC on matters to you. It also includes a hard case. Its loose fit and average noise cancelling on voices still matter more than a codec checkbox. My XH1 review covers those tradeoffs.

The Soundcore Space 2 is another candidate. It keeps LDAC in multipoint, unlike the Space One Pro. I would compare their fit and noise cancelling before paying extra for the Pro name. LDAC also worked with two devices connected in RTINGS testing, and my Soundcore Space 2 review covers the one exception: its AI translation needs multipoint switched off.

For an iPhone and laptop, I’d ignore LDAC. The CH720N offers AAC and two-device switching with a lighter 192 g frame. The Q45 earns its place for stronger low-rumble noise cancelling and a hard case. Start with my budget headphone picks if neither feature is essential.

Why LDAC disappears when you connect a second device

On the Q45 and the older Soundcore models above, multipoint and LDAC are competing modes. Soundcore attributes the Q45 restriction to its Bluetooth transmission limit. Sony’s guide confirms the original XM4 switches to AAC or SBC when you enable its two-device setting.

That fallback is expected behavior for those models. A reset won’t add simultaneous LDAC support, and a newer Bluetooth version on a spec sheet doesn’t prove it either.

If you want two-device switching, leave LDAC off. If you want LDAC from one Android phone, turn multipoint off and disconnect the laptop. The CH720N has no LDAC option at all.

Restore multipoint on a Soundcore Space One

  1. End any active call before trying to pair another device.
  2. Exit LDAC mode in the soundcore app settings.
  3. Pair the second device again.
  4. Pause audio on the first device before starting playback on the second.

Those first three checks follow Soundcore’s troubleshooting page. Try them before a factory reset, which removes your pairings.

Restore LDAC on an original Sony WH-1000XM4

  1. Turn off Connect to 2 devices simultaneously in Sony’s companion app.
  2. Connect one compatible Android source.
  3. Select LDAC in the source’s Bluetooth audio settings if it does not activate automatically.

Sony’s help guide confirms the two-device restriction. If the source cannot send LDAC, changing the headphone setting won’t add it.

What using both features does and doesn’t give you

Multipoint lets you switch sources without pairing again. It does not mix a laptop meeting and phone music into one stream. Stop playback on one source when switching to the other.

Each source also needs its own codec support. An XH1 connected to an Android phone and an iPhone can use LDAC from the Android source and AAC from the iPhone. The second connection does not give the iPhone LDAC.

For calls, don’t assume the music codec improves the microphone. Call quality depends on the headphone mics and the voice connection. Wired use has its own limits too: the CH720N’s built-in mic doesn’t work over its supplied cable.

I’d pay for simultaneous LDAC and multipoint only if I used both regularly. For an iPhone, or a day of meetings, put that money toward fit and noise cancelling.

Earbuds follow the same codec rules. My EarFun Air Pro 5 vs Air Pro 4 comparison covers two sub-$90 LDAC pairs, where the newer one drops aptX and adds three-device multipoint.

Questions people ask

Does LDAC work with multipoint on the Soundcore Space Q45?

No. Soundcore's support page confirms LDAC turns off in multipoint mode. Use AAC or SBC for two devices, or disconnect the second device and enable LDAC for one compatible Android source.

Can the Baseus Inspire XH1 use LDAC and multipoint together?

Yes. It holds an Android LDAC connection with an iPhone connected alongside it. That does not give the iPhone LDAC or mix two audio streams together.

Does the Sony WH-1000XM4 support LDAC with two devices?

No. Sony's XM4 help guide confirms that enabling Connect to 2 devices simultaneously switches the codec to AAC or SBC. Turn that setting off to use LDAC with a compatible source.

Will LDAC work on my iPhone?

No. An iPhone does not send Bluetooth audio using LDAC. On the models here, use AAC and choose by fit, noise cancelling and price.

The Best Edifier Headphones I'd Buy at Every Price

The W830NB is the Edifier pair I'd buy, with LDAC, AAC, multipoint and a 54-hour ANC-on claim for $79.99 at Edifier US on October 24, 2026. With $50 to spend at Edifier, I'd get the W800BT Pro.

Edifier W830NB Review, a Long-Battery Pick With Treble to Fix

The Edifier W830NB is worth buying at $79.99 (Edifier US, October 24, 2026) for its long claimed battery life, LDAC and multipoint, if you'll EQ the treble. Its ANC scored below average at SoundGuys.

Baseus Inspire XH1 Review: Is It Worth Buying?

At $100 or less, yes. It's the pair I'd buy for long battery life, comfort and calls, but at its $149.99 list price, or if you fly often, I'd buy stronger noise cancelling instead.

Soundcore Space Q45 Review: Is It Good Value?

Yes, if you buy it renewed for about $100. New US stock is gone, but the Soundcore Space Q45 still has the strongest noise cancelling in the budget class. Above $100, I'd buy a new Soundcore Space 2 instead.

Baseus Inspire XH1 vs Soundcore Space One Pro

I'd buy the Baseus Inspire XH1 at October 2026 prices. It costs about $40 less, lasts longer per charge and keeps your voice steadier on quiet-room calls. Pay about $140 for the Soundcore Space One Pro only if lab-measured noise cancelling and a compact fold top your list.
