For Soundcore Q20 2024 vs Q20i, I’d buy the cheaper pair once the listing confirms the model. Both support app EQ and two-device pairing. The larger mistake is buying the original micro-USB Life Q20 expecting those features: that version has neither.
My budget shortlist picks the USB-C Life Q20 refresh because it has useful independent lab evidence and often costs less than $50. The Q20i is also worth considering at a similar price. Its different name doesn’t establish better sound or noise cancelling.
Q20 2024 vs Q20i: the model table
| Model | Model family | Charging port | App EQ | Two-device pairing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Original Life Q20 | A3025 | Micro-USB | No | No |
| Life Q20, 2024 refresh | A3025 | USB-C | Yes | Yes |
| Q20i | A3004 | USB-C | Yes | Yes |
| Life Q20+ | A3045 | Separate model; check its supplied guide | Check its exact listing | Check its exact listing |
RTINGS compares the original and refreshed Q20, while Soundcore’s Q20i page confirms that model’s app and dual connections. Soundcore keeps separate Q20+ support documents; don’t treat the plus sign as another name for the 2024 Q20.
The same A3025 family covers two different Life Q20 versions. The charging port and matching manual tell you more than that number alone. Retailer suffixes may identify colors or packages, so check the actual feature list too.
Which Q20 would I buy?
I’d start with the 2024 USB-C version at $50 or less. RTINGS’ test found about 49 hours of continuous battery and effective isolation. It also found that glasses can disrupt the seal and change the bass, so fit still matters.
Typical US price $40–$60, list $59.99. Checked October 22, 2026; prices move.Buy it if
- The listing explicitly says USB-C Life Q20 with app support
- You want low-cost wireless ANC and app EQ
- You need to switch between a phone and laptop
Skip it if
- The seller mixes micro-USB and USB-C photos
- You need noise cancelling through an audio cable
- You need reliable speech pickup in a loud room
I’d take the Q20i instead if it costs less and the seller clearly identifies A3004. Soundcore documents app EQ, multipoint and transparency mode for it. I wouldn’t pay a large premium just to get the letter i.
For an original micro-USB Q20, I’d want a meaningful saving. Losing app EQ and two-device switching makes it less useful for a phone-and-laptop setup. At similar prices, buy one of the newer choices.
What changed from the original Life Q20?
The 2024 refresh adds USB-C charging, app adjustment and multi-device pairing. RTINGS testing shows a broadly similar sound profile with longer continuous battery life. Those are useful changes without making the refresh a different price class.
The older SoundGuys review describes a micro-USB charging cable. If a review claims the Q20 has no app, check which version it covers before dismissing the USB-C pair.

Battery claims don’t settle Q20 vs Q20i
Soundcore’s Q20i page claims 40 hours with ANC on and 60 hours with it off. Its Life Q20 US page shows the same figures, while the current USB-C Q20 guide lists 50/70 hours. These are maker claims for specified versions and settings.
The 2024 Q20’s roughly 49-hour lab result is a separate measurement. It isn’t a Q20i result, and the different advertising figures don’t prove a ten-hour advantage in your use.
I’d use that lab evidence to set expectations for the refreshed Q20, then compare price and features. Neither a bigger battery number nor a newer Bluetooth number tells you which pair blocks voices better.
App support, multipoint and transparency
Both newer choices can connect to a phone and laptop. Multipoint switches between sources; it doesn’t mix audio from both. Pause the first source before starting the second if switching stalls.
The Q20i’s official page explicitly lists ANC, Normal and Transparency modes. The USB-C Q20 guide and older regional pages are less clear about transparency. If hearing announcements through the headphones matters to you, the Q20i has the clearer feature documentation.
Neither Q20 model’s Hi-Res wording should be read as a promise of LDAC Bluetooth. If LDAC matters, choose a model that explicitly lists it. My codec and multipoint guide explains why those features need their own check.
Buying the correct listing
- Match the name: Life Q20, Q20i or Life Q20+.
- For Life Q20, inspect the charging-port photo and select the USB-C style.
- Check that the description explicitly includes app support and dual connections.
- Check the chosen color’s details again; listings can group several versions.
- Keep the seller’s description and check the delivered box before discarding packaging.
If wired ANC is essential, skip the current Life Q20 refresh. Its manual confirms wired listening turns ANC and Bluetooth off. The CH720N offers powered wired ANC instead.
If you can spend a little more on bass-heavy wireless listening, compare the Q30. My Q30 Upgraded vs original guide explains which claims belong to its current revision.
Questions people ask
Is the Soundcore Life Q20 2024 the same as the Q20i?
No. The USB-C Life Q20 refresh belongs to the A3025 family. The Q20i uses A3004. Both offer app EQ and two-device pairing, but that doesn't establish identical hardware or noise cancelling.
Does the original Life Q20 work with the soundcore app?
The original micro-USB version doesn't. The 2024 USB-C refresh does. Confirm the actual port and version rather than relying on a listing that only reads Life Q20.
Does the Q20 2024 have multipoint?
Yes. The USB-C refresh connects to two devices, as does the Q20i. The original micro-USB Life Q20 lacks two-device pairing.
What model number is the Soundcore Q20i?
A3004. Life Q20 uses A3025, while Life Q20+ uses A3045. The A3025 number alone doesn't distinguish the old micro-USB Q20 from the USB-C refresh.
Which has better ANC, the Q20 2024 or Q20i?
The Q20 2024 has independent lab evidence for effective noise isolation. The sources here don't establish an exact-pair ANC winner against the Q20i. I'd choose by price, confirmed features and fit rather than their advertised percentages.

GuideSoundcore Q30 Upgraded vs Original
The current Q30 has Bluetooth 5.3 and a 50-hour ANC battery claim. Older reviews describe a different revision. I'd buy by price and box contents, not the Upgraded label.
ReviewSoundcore Space Q45 Review: Is It Good Value?
Yes, if you buy it renewed for about $100. New US stock is gone, but the Soundcore Space Q45 still has the strongest noise cancelling in the budget class. Above $100, I'd buy a new Soundcore Space 2 instead.
ReviewSony WH-CH720N Review: Noise Cancelling on a Budget
At $90 or less, the Sony WH-CH720N is the light, long-lasting noise cancelling pair I'd buy for commutes and office days. If you fly often, look at a used WH-1000XM4, and only pay the WH-CH730N's $179.99 list price if you need a folding headband.
