On this page
I’d pick between the Soundcore Q20i and Q30 on price, because their spec pages are close and Soundcore’s own listings conflict on battery hours. The Q30 lists a second call microphone and a weight of 260 g. The Q20i lists an 800 mAh battery and no weight. Both turn ANC off when you plug in the cable.
The spec table compares what Soundcore prints on its own pages, checked October 19, 2026, and none of it is measured. The sections after it cover how the two compare in use, plus the lab numbers that exist for the Q30. For lab results on the Q30 family, see the Q30 revision guide, and for which Q20 you’re looking at, see the Q20 models guide.

Where the two disagree with their own pages
Three numbers differ between Soundcore documents, and I’d treat each as unresolved.
- Q30 battery. The product bullets say 50 hours with ANC and 70 without. The spec table on the same page lists 40 and 60. My Q30 guide explains that the revisions may differ.
- Q20i Bluetooth. The user guide lists 5.3, and the EU listing shows 5.0.
- Q20i quick charge. The EU page claims 5 minutes buys 4 hours. The FAQ claims 10 minutes.
If any of those matter to you, ask the seller which revision ships and read the manual in the box.
Which sounds better?
The Q30, by a little. Side by side, it sounds warmer and wider than the Q20i, though the Q20i still sounds good for the money. Both use 40 mm drivers and both have app EQ with 22 presets. The Q30’s default tuning measured about 7 dB of extra bass in RTINGS testing, so turn BassUp off or pick a flatter preset if vocals sound buried.
Which cancels noise better?
The Q30 cancels a bit more, especially on low plane noise, and it lets you pick Transport, Outdoor or Indoor modes, where the Q20i’s ANC is fixed. The tradeoff is a little more background hiss on the Q30 in quiet rooms. The Q20i has the more natural transparency mode, and the Q30’s can sound a little artificial.
Which is better for calls?
The Q20i, despite its spec sheet. In street noise, both cut the background well, but the Q20i keeps your voice clearer, if slightly muffled and quiet. The Q30 sounds bass-heavy, with the mids and highs thinned out. Its mic also rated only passable, with weak noise handling, in RTINGS testing.
Comfort, controls and what’s in the box
Both are comfortable, with large, deep cups and metal-reinforced headbands, and both fold up for a bag. The Q30’s pads are thicker and softer, so it feels light even though Soundcore lists it at 260 g. The Q20i’s cushions and headband padding are thinner and a little firmer.
The Q20i uses buttons on the right cup only. The Q30 adds a touch area on the right cup, where a press and hold switches to ambient mode for a quick chat. The Q20i comes with no case or pouch. Older Q30 units shipped with a zip-up hard case, but Soundcore’s current box list shows a soft pouch, so check the listing if a case matters to you.
What lab tests add for the Q30
The Q30’s lab results all come from the original 2020 revision. It ran 44.3 hours per charge in RTINGS testing, a little under Soundcore’s 50-hour ANC-on claim. Current units are the “Upgraded” revision with Bluetooth 5.3 and Google Fast Pair, which nobody has lab tested yet, and no lab has published a battery run for the Q20i. The Q30 revision guide has the full lab record.
Which should you buy?
Buy the cheaper one if you mostly listen to music. If the two sit within about $10, I’d take the Q30 for its warmer sound, softer pads and adjustable noise cancelling. If you take a lot of calls, or want the more natural transparency mode, the Q20i is the better pick even at the same price. If the Q20i is meaningfully cheaper, the Q20i gives up little on paper. Neither works as a wired ANC pair.
If you want a lighter pair with a cable that keeps ANC on, the Sony WH-CH720N review covers one that does. If you want a newer Soundcore, the Space Q45 review covers the step up.
Questions people ask
Is the Soundcore Q30 better than the Q20i?
On Soundcore's spec pages they match on driver size (40 mm), two-device pairing and ANC that stops working with the AUX cable. The Q30 lists two call mics against one on the Q20i. Buy whichever costs less on the day, since the specs don't separate them by much.
Do the Soundcore Q20i and Q30 have the same battery life?
Soundcore claims 40 hours with ANC on and 60 hours with it off for the Q20i. Its Q30 page gives 50 and 70 hours in the bullets but 40 and 60 hours in the spec table, so I can't call a winner. Both are claims, not measurements.
Can you use ANC on the Q20i or Q30 with the cable plugged in?
No. Soundcore's Q20i guide disables ANC with the AUX cable connected, and the Q30 page lists ANC as incompatible with AUX.
Does the Q30 or the Q20i have the better mic?
The Q20i, despite listing one call mic to the Q30's two. Side by side in street noise, the Q20i sounds a little muffled but clearer, while the Q30 sounds bass-heavy and thin. The Q30's mic also rated only passable in RTINGS testing.
Is the Soundcore Q30 more comfortable than the Q20i?
Slightly. Both have large, deep cups, but the Q30's pads are thicker and softer, so it feels lighter on the head than its weight suggests. The Q20i's pads and headband padding are thinner and firmer.
Which Bluetooth version does the Soundcore Q20i have?
Soundcore's Q20i user guide lists Bluetooth 5.3, while the EU listing shows Bluetooth 5.0. I'd go by the user guide but treat it as unconfirmed until Soundcore corrects one of the two pages.

GuideSoundcore Q20 2024 vs Q20i and the other Q20 models
The USB-C Life Q20 refresh and Q20i both offer app EQ and two-device pairing. The old micro-USB Q20 doesn't. Check the model and port before buying the cheapest listing.
GuideSoundcore Q30 Upgraded vs Original
The current Q30 has Bluetooth 5.3 and a 50-hour ANC battery claim. Older reviews describe a different revision. I'd buy by price and box contents, not the Upgraded label.
ReviewSony WH-CH720N Review: Noise Cancelling on a Budget
At $90 or less, the Sony WH-CH720N is the light, long-lasting noise cancelling pair I'd buy for commutes and office days. If you fly often, look at a used WH-1000XM4, and only pay the WH-CH730N's $179.99 list price if you need a folding headband.
ReviewSoundcore Space Q45 Review: Is It Good Value?
Yes, if you buy it renewed for about $100. New US stock is gone, but the Soundcore Space Q45 still has the strongest noise cancelling in the budget class. Above $100, I'd buy a new Soundcore Space 2 instead.
