Multipoint lets one pair of headphones stay connected to two devices at once, usually a phone and a laptop. Both connections stay live, but audio plays from one device at a time. Pause a video on your laptop, press play on your phone, and the headphones switch over. If a call comes in on your phone during laptop audio, most multipoint headphones pause the laptop and let you answer.
The headphones do the work, so your phone and laptop don’t need any special support. Some pairs switch in a second and some hang for a few seconds. On some models, turning on multipoint disables a high-quality codec like LDAC. If you’ll switch devices all day, check the switching delay and codec limits before you buy.
